Gallery de Neyuh: Born from Beautiful Memories
Gallery de Neyuh: Born from Beautiful Memories

Gallery de Neyuh is the result of the beautiful memories of its founder. Occasionally, those memories take me back to the short stays in Paris during a Brand Communication training program with Shell Global in the UK. The apartment of my colleague Arnaud’s family was nestled in a quiet little street in Paris, where, from the window in the early morning or at dusk, I could endlessly admire the proud beauty of the Eiffel Tower.

Arnaud’s younger sister had a close friend, and she brought me to her friend’s home one weekend. The friend’s mother was a kind-hearted French woman with a warm, rosy face. She cooked for me, cared for me, and even washed and neatly folded my clothes, like a mother tending to her daughter. What struck me most was how, in her spare time, she would sit and sew, embroidering delicate fabrics to create the most charming curtains. In that moment, I wondered: how, in a bustling city like Paris, in this day and age, could there still be a woman who hand-stitched and embroidered with such care? I was mesmerized, watching her craft each intricate, beautiful detail.

Back in Vietnam at that time, the Anna Bùi Gallery stood out prominently in the heart of Saigon. I vividly remember standing outside its glass windows with my friends, too timid to step inside, our eyes fixed on the space designed in a French colonial style. The dresses made of delicate chiffon silk, along with handcrafted bags, shoes, hats, and more—adorned with beads, stones, and materials like linen, cotton, and leather—were breathtaking. I kept wondering: how could human hands weave such tiny, exquisite details so perfectly? They were utterly beautiful, and their price tags reflected that craftsmanship.

It was also around that time that I learned, by chance, that even Hermès had exquisitely crafted products made in small workshops in Vietnam.

In the years that followed, the beauty of handcrafted items lingered in my mind, naturally and instinctively. My heart would sing with joy and fascination whenever I stumbled upon anything that bore the mark of craftsmanship—sometimes even the charmingly imperfect stitches, brushstrokes, or details.

Perhaps Gallery de Neyuh was born from these beautiful memories?
